Frequently Asked QuestionsWe know you will have many questions about our adventures and have tried to answer the most common ones here. In addition, we will send you a detailed Pre-Departure Packet about the Oregon Wine Adventure upon registration.
What, where, and when is this Oregon Wine Adventure all about? Please see our Adventures page and click on the lefthand links.
What if I am a solo traveler? Not a problem! 40% of our participants sign up entirely on their own and our guides are trained to make sure everyone fits in. You can choose to pay a $600 single supplement to have your own room but this is always optional and we will find you a roommate of the same gender if you don't wish to pay the extra supplement.
Am I fit enough to go on this tour? You should be able to walk for three miles or bicycle for five miles at a leisurely pace to participate in this tour.
When do I have to pay? Registering for one of our Oregon Wine Adventures requires a $500 deposit payable by check or any major credit card. The remaining amount due must be paid by check 60 days prior to the trip departure. If you wish to pay the remaining balance by credit card there will be a 3% administrative fee. Please note we reserve the right to treat your reservation as cancelled if your final payment is not made when due. If you sign up for a trip 60 days or less before the departure date, the entire trip price must be paid by credit card with the 3% administrative fee on the remaining balance.
What if I have to cancel? If you cancel your reservation with 46 days or more advance notice, you can apply all payments made to any trip run by Zephyr Adventures in the same calendar year or the year following. If you cancel with 45 or fewer days advance notice, you forfeit all payments made. Please do not ask us to make exceptions; our adventures are often full and a late cancellation usually means we have lost the opportunity to give your spot to someone else. We reserve the right to cancel an adventure or to change an itinerary. However, once our season begins we rarely cancel trips.
Do you recommend travel insurance? We highly recommend trip cancellation insurance to protect against unforeseen circumstances. Every year dozens of our travelers experience unfortunate circumstances that make it impossible for them to join our adventures. Many of these people lose their trip and airline payments. Even if you do not think this will happen to you, it can! We will send you information on travel insurance after you register.
What is included in the trip price? See our Dates & Prices page.
How do I get to the area? We will pick you up on Day One at 2:00 PM at the Eugene Airport. This afternoon meeting time allows you to fly in that morning. We finish at noon on Day Five at the Portland Airport. You are responsible for getting to and from the trip location and this transportation is not included in the trip price. Your Pre-Departure Information will include more details on getting good flights and airfares. If you are driving to the area, we will make arrangements to pick you up earlier on Day One in Portland, where you can leave your car.
What will the weather be like and what if it is bad during our trip? The average high temperature in August in the wine areas of Oregon is 80 degrees Fahrenheit, while the average lows are in the 50s. Plus, while western Oregon does get its share of rain, July and August are the driest months. So, expect hot, sunny days with little chance of rain. The vines should be green and the fruit ripening nicely.
Can I purchase a gift certificate for a friend? Our Oregon Wine Adventure makes a great gift for active wine enthusiasts or those interested to learn more about wine. Please visit our Gift Certificate page.
